$190K Eyed for Road, Drainage Projects in Mendham Twp.

Township will swear in new officer as well at Tuesday night meeting.

A full agenda is in place for the Mendham Township Committee meeting Tuesday night, and includes the potential movement of $190,000.

A public hearing on an ordinance to re-appropriate the money is being held during the meeting, and a majority vote will move the funds – originally set in this year’s budget – to be appropriated to two different areas, according to township administrator Steve Mountain.

The first is to allot some of the funds for the East Main Street Drainage project, Mountain said, which has been scheduled for construction in early 2014. The project is being conducted to improve drainage on that road.

The second portion of funds would go to road improvement projects in the township in the coming year, Mountain said.

A project grant will be discussed at the meeting as well, this one concerning the Corey Lane project. The township is expected to submit a request to the New Jersey Department of Transportation to help cover costs for the roadwork.

Finally, Mendham Township will welcome a new member to the police force Tuesday night. The new officer is being sworn in by the committee at the meeting and has already started working with the department.

The meeting is open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend.
