The Chester Borough Police Department has filled its opening for an officer as Edward Robinson was sworn in as its newest member.

Robinson was sworn into his new position by Mayor Bob Davis at the meeting of the Mayor and Council on July 16.

Robinson, who hails from Bloomingdale, said he is excited to work in Chester.

“I’m looking forward to working with the department here,” Robinson said. “It’s a young, active department.”

Robinson previously worked for the Northvale Police Department for one year.

He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ramapo College and previously attended County College of Morris.

Davis invited Robinson to lead the Mayor and Council and all attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance prior to his swearing in.

The Borough had decided to replace the active duty officer on the roster when former Police Chief Andre Kedrowitsch retired on June 30. Sergeant David Jara was named acting chief on July 1.

The Borough is in the process of selecting a new chief of police.
