Resident donates a new flooring in Mendham Township Police Headquarters.
The Mendham Township Police Department has been outfitted with a new floor, courtesy of a generous benefactor. But hopefully, residents won't be arrested and have the opportunity to see it. Mendham's Randy Lee, owner of Surface Works, donated the time, materials and manpower to redo the lobby, the hallways and the offices of the Mendham Township Headquarters. And for those who work there, the difference is night and day. LouAnne Finlay and Candace Alderton who work in the front office said that Lee's staff was wonderful. "They worked so fast and did a great job. We really appreciate what they did for us," Aldterton said. Teenager failed sobriety test after accident, Mendham Township police said.
A 19-year-old Basking Ridge man was arrested after crashing his car June 2, Mendham Township Police said. Officers responded to a report of a crash on Kennaday Road shortly after 8 p.m., Lt. Vito Abrusci said. Officers arrived on the scene where a 2011 Volkswagon had traveled off the roadway and struck a metal catch basin, Abrusci said. The driver of the vehicle, Tyler Krevis, told the officers that he was uninjured but showed signs of impairment, Abrusci said. Krevis was given a series of standardized field sobriety tests and at the completion of the tests was placed under arrest for DWI, Abrusci said. Three men remain at large in string of auto burglaries and are suspected in rash of car thefts in Mendham Township.
Police are searching for three men who have been linked to a vehicle burglary and theft ring that victimized Mendham Township residents. Jamar Judd, 24, Jahid Vauters, 25, and Marcus Brent, 19, have all been charged in connection to a string of vehicle burglaries and are considered suspects in a series of auto thefts, police Lt. Vito Abrusci said. They remain at large. Four vehicles were burglarized on May 14 in the Ralston section of Mendham, and a Range Rover and 2008 Infinity were stolen in separate incidents, Abrusci has said. The thieves were able to steal the vehicles without much effort, as both vehicles were left unlocked with keys inside, the lieutenant said. Two unlocked vehicles stolen, four burglarized in the last two weeks, Mendham Township police said.
Two vehicles were stolen and four others were burglarized since May 3, prompting Mendham Township Police to ask for residents help in curbing future crime and catching the thieves, Lt. Vito Abrusci said. "We are requesting that our residents continue to be dilligent and limit their vulnerability as a victim," Abrusci said. A Range Rover was stolen May 3, and a 2008 Infinity was stolen Tuesday, Abrusci said. "Both vehicles that were stolen were unlocked and had the keys in the car," Abrusci said. Mendham Borough resident arrested by the Mendham Township Police with the assistance of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.
A 63-year-old Mendham Borough man was arrested May 1 and charged with the harassment of a teenager, Mendham Township Police said. Ronald Weissman was arrested after several incidents of harassment that happened from April 25 through April 29, Lt. Vito Abrusci said. All of the incidents centered on a minor male, Abrusci said. Weissman was arrested by the Mendham Township Police with assistance from the Morris County Prosecutor's Office. Weissman was issued a court date in Mendham Municipal Court and has been ordered to have no contact with the juvenile, Abrusci said.

Everyone who hears the story of the Everett family is drawn to learn more. The family of six were Randolph residents who owned a popular horse farm in Long Valley. They were universally embraced by both communities, which is what made the tragedy that struck the night of superstorm Sandy all the more devastating. During the apex of the storm, the lives of Zoe, Talia, Theodore and Pierce Everett were changed forever when a tree fell on the four-door Chevy Silverado driven by their father, Richard. Jamere Jones, 26, posted bail before police said they found additional drugs and drug paraphernalia in his car.
Mendham Township Police are searching for Jamere Jones, 26, of Westville, whose bail was revoked after police said they found 210 Oxycodone pills, a crack pipe, four fake driver's licenses, a fraudulent prescription blank and a ledger with detailed prescription purchases in his car. Jones was arrested by township police Wednesday, March 20, and was released after he posted $20,000 bail. After a judge approved a search warrant for his car Friday, March 21, police said they found the contraband and added charges to Jones' arrest. Bail was raised to $75,000 with no 10 percent option. Since Jones was released on the previous bail, police are still looking for him. Jones arrested Wednesday night along with Martin Cohen, 41, of Gloucester City. …

Mendham Township Police charge a pair of Chester residents after a traffic stop.
A pair of 20-year-old Chester residents were arrested on synthetic marijuana charges after a traffic stop on March 14, Mendham Township Police said. According to Lt. Vito Abrusci, patrol stopped Curtis Fitzgerald on South Road for speeding and after being granted consent to search an officer located the synthetic marijuana named “mind trip” along with a smoking pipe which was used to smoke “mind trip.” Fitzgerald was charged with possession of imitation controlled dangerous substance and drug paraphernalia while the passenger, Alexandre Darienzo, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, Abrusci said. Both were released with a pending court date in Mendham Municipal Court, Abrusci said.
