After a mess of a season, the Jets look to move forward with the right signal caller. Who do you think is the better option this season?
Practice makes perfect, and if you take a look at the Jets’ performance last season, they need a lot of practice. But don't fear Jets fans, Gang Green is already on the practice field at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center in Florham Park. Hundreds of fans attended the team's mini-camp Tuesday and got a good look at the Jets' current quarterback competition. While projected starter Mark Sanchez was throwing a pass, a Jets fan could be heard saying, “he looks good out there, he is in control,” while another muttered, “False leadership.” Draft pick Geno Smith and Sanchez took turns running the offense, but pay no mind to the order in which the names are written. Geno looked good and was putting the ball on the money but Sanchez was much…

There's nothing quite like a big time spring football game. About 80 of the finest football players from around North Jersey gathered Tuesday for the 2013 Paul Robeson All-Star Football Classic, and this year it was an instant classic. The West blocked a field goal as time expired to win 13-12. Senior football players from Essex and eastern Passaic County comprised the East All-Stars, and seniors from Morris, Sussex, Warren and western Passaic counties formed the West All-Stars. Not only did the game feature some of the best football talent New Jersey has to offer, it also attempted to give back to a charitable cause. “We started reaching out to the area schools in February,” said East Manager Ken Trimmer. “There is some great talent out …

Mendham's senior football star to represent Mendham High School Tuesday night.
Matt Kuhn doesn't have to end his high school football career just yet. The Mendham Minuteman and football team anchor has been named to the 20th Annual Paul Robeson All-Star Game, set to kick-off at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night in East Orange. Kuhn, a senior, will line up as a defensive lineman for the West team. The East has a 17-2 overall record in the yearly tilt. The All-Star game will be a highlight for Kuhn's senior season, as Mendham was unable to put together a winning season in 2012. The Minutemen beat Morristown 35-7 and Plainfield 28-18 for its two wins on the season. Kuhn will join other players from the greater Morris County area to fill out the West roster.

Boys and girls teams earn a record number of points for West Morris Mendham.
What a difference a week makes. Two weeks ago, the West Morris Mendham Girls and Boys track and field teams competed in unusually cold and bitter conditions. Just one week later in the Group 3 Championships held in South Plainfield this past weekend, the athletes were dealing with near 90 degree temperatures and bright, unyielding sun. At the end of the long weekend of competition, the boys team finished the event in fourth place with 80 points and the girls in sixth place with 52 points. These group championship performances from the Minutemen are school records, based on the online NJSIAA records dating back to 1996. Contributing to the record-amount of points in the competition were: Boys: Girls: Advancing to the NJ State Finals which …

Davis Bell scored on a nifty move midway through the second quarter and Jack Anderson scored again to put Mendham up 5-3 going into half time. Peck came out strong once again to open the second half and scored two quick goals knotting the game at five all. Conner Marone, Kohl Shaffer and Garret Samuelson provided much of the offense for Peck and Chris Colon, as usual, anchored Peck’s …
Minutemen stopped by Moorestown in the Group III final for the third year in a row.
Record heat on the turf paled in comparison to the heat of the rivalry on the field as Mendham and Moorestown clashed for the third time in as many years with the Group III title on the line. Moorestown, ranked No. 2 in the nation, completed their undefeated season dropping the Minutemen 18-10. Mendham came out strong against the defending Tournament of Champions winner. Becky Gohsler would put Mendham on the board for the early 1-0 lead. But Moorestown quickly scored tying the game at 1-1. Gia Padavano would get the next goal for Mendham and the Minutemen were back on top. But Moorestown would explode for six unanswered goals that put Mendham back on their heels. In the second half, Mendham picked up the intensity and scored seven …
