With the retirement of Chester Borough Police Chief Andre Kedrowitsch a little more than a month away, the mayor and council, in keeping with its decision to keep its options open, had prepared an ordinance amendment that would add the position of police director, a civilian that would help train a new chief or officer in charge. But the presence of several area police chiefs and some new information prompted the Mayor and Council to table that change at their May 21 meeting. Denville Chief of Police Christopher Wagner, who is also the third vice president of the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, spoke for the assembled officers, explaining the benefits of having a police chief as opposed to a director and offering the …

Start with a marinade. This means planning ahead — say, Friday. But it’s worth it, says Rick Browne, host of Barbeque America on PBS, because you can pass up that well-marbled rib eye steak and buy a less tender and less expensive choice to grill like a flank steak or chuck steak. Just marinate it or brine for one or two days and then cook long and slow on the barbecue grill to break down tissues but maintain moisture. “You need to include an acid in the marinade, perhaps juice, vinegar or soy sauce, but …

James, Why belittle another sport (which I dislike, by the way) in order to make your point? And all my point was that the attempt to market MLS as "major league," given the premiere leagues already in places--a number in Europe--was, to me, a waste of time. Can you go to an MLS game and have a great time and see a competitive, fairly topnotch game? Sure, in the same way you can go see the …   more ›

Bullying Claim Pits Family Against School District

Chester mother wants vindication for her daughter, apology from Mendham High School.

What began with a Mendham High School junior’s quest for a varsity cheerleading letter devolved into harassment, bullying, intimidation and retaliation, according to her mother. Immediately the competition A kids told her that…
