Arrests Nip Garden Center Thefts in Bud, Cops Say

Montville Township bust could lead to charges from police departments in East Hanover, Boonton Township, Harding, Chester Township and Wayne, authorities say.

Montville police say the arrests of three people in connection with an alleged burglary at Condurso's Garden Center in the township could help solve thefts from other garden centers and floral shops in Morris and Passaic counties. After a burglar alarm was triggered at Condurso's around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, Montville Ptl. Robert Koetzner pulled over a woman who was driving on side streets away from the area of the garden center and farm market. Obama and Christie to Visit Jersey Shore on Tuesday

This will be Obama's first visit to Shore since just after Sandy.

President Obama and Gov. Christie will visit the Jersey Shore on Tuesday, according to The Record in Bergen County. This will be Obama's first visit to the area since Oct. 31, just after the storm struck. A full itinerary of the visit was not available. More information can be found here.

The subcommittee of the Chester Borough council charged with deciding the fate of the Larison’s Turkey Farm site continues to explore its options, but according to an update from Mayor Bob Davis made at Tuesday's council meeting, strides are being made.   “The committee has not met. There have been a lot of questions back and forth, telephone conversations with CVS and different groups,” Davis said. Among those the committee has been speaking with is Mitchell Berlant, a business associate of restaurant owner Frank Cretella, who handles real estate matters for Cretella. 40-Year Brookside Resident Passes Away

Irene Pagano passed away Tuesday at 80-years-old.

Irene (Marisak) Pagano died peacefully at home on Tuesday after a long illness. She was 80 years old. Born in Brooklyn, NY on April 14, 1933 to the late John and Frances Marisak, she was a resident of the Brookside section of Mendham Township for over 40 years. Pagano was a proud daughter of Brooklyn, New York, but she was also a proud 40-year resident of Brookside. Pagano was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and savior to many dogs and cats. Pagano was a great cook and hostess, fabulous gardener, gracious dancer, and courageous home designer. She was predeceased by her husband Philip F. Pagano, and her son Chuck Pagano. Pagano is survived by her daughters Marian Matheson (South Hadley, Massachusetts) and …

New Child Porn Charge For Man Accused in Chester Sex Assault

Watchung man could face an additional 30 years.

As a new charge surfaced for a convicted child abuser from Watchung on Wednesday, 53-year-old Patrick Deck may be facing a combined more than 30 years in prison if now convicted of videotaping and sexually assaulting minors in addition to being in possesion of child pornography. In the past year, Deck has been charged on child pornography and sexual assault of a minor charges in three jurisdictions in Warren County, Morris County and in Somerset County. On Wednesday he made an initial appearance on a one-count charge of child pornography possession after authorities said he was found to have three sexually-explicit images of young boys on his laptop computer.
