Turkey Farm Designation Gets Public Hearing This Week

Regional school board, Mendham Twp. committee meet Monday night.

Before the week can wind down into a romantic Valentine’s Day weekend (did you make your reservations yet?), there’s plenty going on around town you should be aware of. Let’s take a look.

On Monday, the West Morris Regional Board of Education will hold its monthly regular meeting at 7 p.m. at Mendham High School. The agenda has a slew of activity, including a change to the calendar and the acceptance of multiple resignations at the end of the school year.

It’s the first meeting since the board inaugurated new members Brian Cavanaugh and Gary Lakritz, the latter who was selected as the body’s president.

Also on Monday night the Mendham Township Committee will meet at 7:30 p.m. One of the agenda items includes a discussion on the Department of Public Works salt shortage as the winter of 2013-14 has provided constant precipitation and need to clear roads and use de-icing agents.

The Mendham Township Committee will also meet on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for a preliminary budget meeting. The session is open to the public and will be held at town hall.

On Thursday, a public hearing regarding what to do with the Larison’s Turkey Farm property on Rt. 206 in Chester Borough will be held at 7:30 p.m. by the planning board. The body will consider a designation of non-condemnation redevelopment area. The meeting is open to the public.

Don’t forget to answer our question of the week, which can be found here. We’re asking about your take on the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

Have a great week, Mendham and Chester!
