Monday Closings Start Meeting-Filled Week in Mendham-Chester

Don't forget to answer our question of the week about extended classroom time.

Can you believe we’re more than halfway through the first month of 2014? Where is the time going? Well, hang on to your hats, there’s plenty to talk about this week. Take a look.

All local schools will be closed Monday, Jan. 20 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Regular bell schedules are set for Tuesday.

On Tuesday in Chester Township, the mayor and council will meet at 7:30 p.m. On the agenda is a resolution that would authorize the contract between the township and Morris County for dispatch services. Check back in the week to find out more about that.

It’s expected that Mayor Bill Cogger will also discuss the findings of a traffic report done by the police department explaining the amount of crashes along Rt. 206 in the township. Cogger is proposing to the New Jersey Department of Transportation safety enhancements be made to the 3.5-mile stretch of state roadway that goes through the township. Find out more here.

The Chester Borough Mayor and Council is also scheduled to meet Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Mendham Borough’s Mayor and Council will also meet this week, this time on Monday night at 8 p.m. at the Garabrandt Center.

Be sure to weigh in on our question of the week, where we ask if you agree with the governor about extended school days and shortened vacations for New Jersey students.

Have a great week, Mendham and Chester!
