Halloween Arrives, Mendham Twp. Eyes New Ambulance This Week

Public hearing on drug treatment facility to be held in Chester Township Monday night.

The last week of October is filled with fun and reflection, not to mention plenty of items you should know about. Let’s take a look.

For the first time since 2010, Halloween looks like it will actually happen on Oct. 31 this year. After a nor’easter and a super storm in 2011 and 2012, respectively, trick-or-treating in the township was moved to later dates.

Some of our towns have curfews while others have courtesy reminders for trick-or-treating in local neighborhoods. Find out about the times and rules in the Chesters, and the reminders in Mendham Township.

The week kicks off with a big meeting at the Chester Township Municipal Building, where the zoning board is scheduled to meet Monday night. The only agenda item on the list is a public hearing for SBH Hidden River, LLC, which is looking to open a 36-bed drug treatment facility on Pottersville Road. A survey of existing treatment facilities in New Jersey will be examined.

The meeting is open to the public and begins at 7:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, the Mendham Township Committee will hold its final meeting of the month and look to approve a contract for the purchase of an emergency medical vehicle for use by the Mendham Township First Aid Squad.

Junior firefighter Samuel Tufts will also be recognized for moving to senior firefighter. West Morris Regional High School Superintendent Mackey Pendergrast is scheduled to give a presentation on the state of the district as well.

Don’t forget to weigh in on our question of the week, where we ask readers to let us how they’ll be voting on the special question in this year’s General Election. The question is asking if the state’s minimum wage should be increased by $1 per hour.

Have a great week, Mendham and Chester!
