Dueling Peach Festivals Highlight Week Ahead

Not one, but two peach festivals coming to Chester.

There are two Chesters, so why not have two Peach Festivals.

This weekend the Community Presbyterian Church in Chester Borough and Alstede's Farm in Chester Township will be the hot spot for all things peachy.

First up is the annual Peach Festival and Country Auction, held on Aug. 3 on the grounds of Community Presbyterian Church located at 220 Main Street in Chester. The event is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. rain or shine.

Admission is free and features the enormous White Elephant Tent with gently used toys and games for children, books, CD's, the electronics booth, homemade baked goods, jam, jellies and peach treats at the dessert booth.

Peach pies and dumplings will also be for sale at the pie booth and the Country Auction starts at 10 a.m.  Call 908-879-5091 for further information.

On Aug. 3 and 4 Alstede's is having their first Peach Festival. Peach treats will include homemade peach ice cream, peach shortcakes, peach ice tea slushies, and peach pies (including peach blueberry, peach melba, peach praline, and – of course – peach pie).

There will also be a hayride to the peach orchard to pick your own as well as pony rides, moon bounce and the usual assortment of activities.

The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days and features a Peach Pancake Breakfast on Aug. 4 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
