Chester Triplets Transform Birthday Presents to Charity Funds

Donald triplets encourage friends and family to donate to Hurricane Sandy relief.

Bobby, Melissa and Philip Donald became teenagers last month, and rather than celebrate in the traditional fashion, they opted to spend their thirteenth birthday raising money for New Jersey Strong.

NJ Strong is a non-profit organization committed to bringing direct relief and swift recovery to residents of the state of New Jersey in times of extreme hardship and natural disaster. NJ Strong focuses on a personal, hands-on approach to disaster management by coordinating volunteer efforts, collecting and distributing supplies, cleaning up, rebuilding homes, rejuvenating families, and restoring hope to individuals.

Giving must be part of the Donald DNA, because the triplets cousins are New Jersey Strong’s co-Presidents Lindsay and Stephen Donald. The organization has become a family affair, with relatives continuing to donate their money and time to the organization, founded in November 2012.

“We all are so proud of their generosity and selflessness,” Lindsay Donald said. “They are embodying the character of our organization by wholeheartedly supporting others through community efforts and leading by example."

Through donations from friends, the siblings were able to raise over $1,000 for the New Jersey Strong organization. The donations will go towards two of the current house rebuilding projects as well as recovery assistance given to families in need in New Jersey.
