Mendham, New Jersey – Whitney Houston's house here is being sold for $1.5 million, the first time the property listed since the singer's death in February 2012.

Houston, who drowned in a Beverly Hills hotel , built the 13,000 square-foot home in 1987, according to Zillow.com. Houston married R&B star Bobby Brown on the property in 1992.

The home includes five bedrooms, four full, and two half bathrooms set upon 24 acres of land. The home is listed by Gregory Taylor of Hoboken, and hit the market with its current price tag on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

This isn't the first try at selling the home, however. The property went on sale with a different listing company in February 2011 for a price of $1.75M, and was taken down nearly a year later, on January 23, 2012, the Zillow profile showed.

Taxes on the property reached $37,400 in 2012. The YouTube video above shows more than two minutes of a photo slideshow from the property.

Will you take 1.5 mil. cash? I always wanted to live next door to Gov. Christie!
Scott Cowden February 07, 2014 at 03:57 PM
Is that price with or without your own personal stash of coke & heroin, and a bunch of dumb, ignorant flunkies to make sure you stay happy?

There are many beautiful properties in Mendham.... however, that on is an eyesore.

Hey Linda, Maybe you can live AT Cristi's house. I am bettIng that there will be a distressed sale once the Feds get dug in, despite the fact the sucker taxpayers are footing the legal fees.

Wonder if it comes with an Israel Max Rosenthal drug dealer like Phillip Hoffman had.

I hear you @emerson d boozer, I'll just have to wait for the gov. to sell, I'm hoping he leaves the state! "Let's Go Jets"!!!

This is one of the best presentations of a house for sale I've seen. ... It's almost a reason to keep on living. ... I was waiting to hear Whitney burst out into song with the captivating music. ... Seems like a fair price for all you are getting here especially when you include the acreage .

Interesting structure but the inside is dated!!!
John February 08, 2014 at 12:08 AM
@William. That was a nice presentation. Good choice of music. Almost like a Graceland .

It doesn't look much like a home, does it?
Sal February 08, 2014 at 01:43 AM
It's a great bargain and dirt cheap for whoever ends up owning it. The 24 acres of land alone is worth the purchase price.

I wouldn`t live in New Jersey for all the gold in Fort Knox,

ugly, ugly, ugly. Would probably be worth it to tear it down and rebuild something appropriate for that conservative area where most have good taste.

have you seen NJ? it's a dirty ghetto looking state. looks horrible. until you get to the casinos. bobby brown killed whitney hes the one that got her started on drugs. what a shame. all that talent wasted.
Linda L Fox February 08, 2014 at 10:54 AM
Guess the feds have to find some evidence of wrong doing first. So far nadda!!
Linda L Fox February 08, 2014 at 10:55 AM
Nobody gets someone started on drugs. Taking illegal drugs is a personal choice as is stopping.

@Linda, people can influence other people into making bad choices as much as trying to encourage them to make good ones. None of us knew what really went on inside those walls but we can all agree she was a beautiful young singer with an incredible voice when she came on the seen back in the 80's .Sadly with all her success her life began to spiral out of control. Opiate addiction is at an all time high .Heroin use is up 80% from 2007. People used to drink their depression or anxiety away now they have the option of just self medicating. Whitney was proud to be from NJ .She employed people , helped people with their careers and best of all she paid her fair share of outrages NJ property tax. Whitney is far from the first who's life came to tragic end. Elvis died as a result of drug use along with his peanut butter and banana sandwiches. My gosh the guy died on the toilet trying to give birth to 62lbs of impacted fecal matter and they made his house a shrine.

It looks more like a museum or a medical/hospital complex.
Stephen Kaminski February 09, 2014 at 10:07 AM
I dont think OBAMA will buy it for me i asked.
Brandy Williams February 09, 2014 at 12:45 PM
Personally, after watching the video, it makes me very sad knowing how Whitney's life ended.
Marguerite February 09, 2014 at 07:27 PM
this house is so cheap for a reason. whoever buys it is going to have to gut it and completely redo the interior. it is stuck in the 80's. soooooo ugly

I do not care about whitney houstons former home. This has nothing to do with my hometown.
