Table Talk: Answer to Reader's Question

This second 'Table Talk' blog answers a reader's question.

Question for Table Talk: I also have kids with quite a few years between them. What local family activities could you recommend that would be appropriate for my 9-, 13-, and 17- year- old kids?

Dear Reader,

As our kids have grown, family activities have been really difficult. One child would be amused and the other two children would be bored. Not only do we have a nine-year age span between our 23- year-old and our 14–year-old, but we also have two girls and a boy.

We have had success at two local attractions since moving here and they both involve food, go figure.

The first is Hacklebarney Farm Cider Mill. Whenever I say, “let’s go to the Cider Mill” my car fills up. We do not go very often, so when we do go it is really special. Some of us love the cider donuts; others love the cider hot dogs and we all love the cider. I love the outdoor, country atmosphere.

The second attraction is The Chester Lions Club Oktoberfest. My husband and one of my daughters are big bratwurst fans. The big surprise at the Oktoberfest this year was the band. After they played some German tunes they switched gears to rock music that had my whole family and our neighbors dancing all night long.

A guaranteed winning activity for my family is eating out. We have eaten at all the local and not so local restaurants numerous times. We could recommend the best breakfast, lunch and dinner for the pickiest and choosiest eaters. However, I would love to hear about your favorites.
