Morris Native Helps Calgary Beat Devils in NHL Homecoming

Kenny Agostino, of Flanders, starts for NHL team on same ice where he won three high school titles.

When he was enjoying championship success three times over at Delbarton with the Green Wave ice hockey team, Kenny Agostino, of Flanders, hoped one day he’d be skating on the same ice with a professional sweater on.

That moment came Monday night, as Agostino started for the Calgary Flames against his hometown New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center, according to dailyrecord.com. Agostino had 12 minutes of ice time and even had a shot on goal during a breakaway before being slashed, the report said.

Agostino played his high school career at Delbarton, winning three NJSIAA Non-Public championships at the Prudential Center before playing four seasons at Yale, the report said.

The 22-year-old started in his sixth game of the season Monday night for Calgary, whom he signed with on March 16. Agostino scored his first goal last Friday against Florida, the report said.

Agostino told dailyrecord.com he had about 35 to 40 friends and family members among the more than 14,000 fans at the Prudential Center Monday night.
