'Legendary' Coach Makes Minutemen Return Friday

Bill Carpluk returns to the football field after seven years away from the game.

Bill Carpluk spent the last seven years hanging around football players as an assistant principal at Mendham High School.

That was after 17 years of coaching them on the field as a legendary motivator that brought in 116 wins and six conference titles to the Minutemen trophy case, according to nj.com.

And now it’s time to get back to work.

A Star-Ledger feature article published this week shows Carpluk’s time away from the game was tough to bear, and after former coach Doug Kirk resigned following the 2012 season, Carpluk came back home.

The Minutemen kick off their season under Carpluk’s direction Friday afternoon at home against Mt. Olive. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
