HIKE CHESTER

HIKE CHESTER - Free Family Friendly Guided Hikes Throughout Chester, July through October 2012

Come explore the jewel of Western Morris County by Hiking Chester! Whether you are a visitor or a long time resident you will be sure to enjoy exploring Chester and it’s abundance of natural splendor and historic charm featured on these guided hikes. There are four hikes planned in the series which take place on the first Saturday of each month beginning July 7thand ending October 6th and all hikes are free and appropriate for all ages. 

The hikes will feature different trails around Chester Borough and Chester Township all  highlighted in  the Chester Trails plan for the  creation of a walking/biking trail ecosystem that connects significant open space, environmental, cultural and historic features in the two municipalities.

The hikes are offered by Chester Recreation in cooperation with Chester Trails, Conservation Resources, the Environmental and Green Teams of the Chesters and the Chester Historical Society.  To find out more about Chester Trails or for trailmaps please visit:  http://chestertrails.org/hikechester

Saturday, July 7, 2012, 9:30 am – 11:30am:  First Hike will focus on the wildlife, plants, trees, beautiful terrain and vistas that Chester has to offer by hiking 50 North Rd property/Sewards Hill, Highlands Ridge Park and the Evans Family Preserve. This hike is a moderate hike over moderate to rugged terrain, duration 2 hours. This hike will be led by Jonathan Wagar and Michael Cantina of Conservation Resources. Meet at Chester Borough Municipal Hall parking lot located at 50 North Rd, Chester NJ 07930.
