1-Point Win Propels Minutemen Boys LAX to Tourney Semifinals

Mendham will play top-seed Ridgewood Thursday afternoon.

It was a tale of two halves when Mendham and Mt. Olive met Tuesday afternoon in the NJSIAA North, Group 3 quarterfinals of the boys lacrosse tournament, and just one team could come out on top.

Fortunately for Mendham, the No. 4 seed Minutemen were able to hold off the No. 12 Marauders for an 8-7 win and a berth in the semifinal round, according to nj.com.

Mendham’s Ross Coapman led all scorers with three goals, and Chandler Avallone pitched in three assists and a goal as well, the report said. Drew Robshaw scored twice, and Tim Gillespie and Will Robinson each found the back of the net.

The Minutemen will head to Ridgewood Thursday afternoon to play against the brackets top seed for a shot at the title game. The winner will take on either Morristown or Randolph, who are battling in the other semifinal matchup.
