No Chester Candidates For Regional Board Seat

Despite being granted representation on the West Morris Regional School District Board of education, Chester Borough fails to provide a candidate.

And after a reapportionment established by the county in late 2011, one of Washington Township’s seats was being eliminated in favor of adding a representative from Chester Borough.

But no one from Chester Borough chose to run for the new seat.

As a result of local school board elections being moved to November in conjunction with the Presidential vote, incumbents and those seeking a spot on their respective boards were required to file to run by June 5.

On the West Morris Regional School Board, where four of the five Washington Township representative seats were up for grabs, including those held by David Lobron, Joseph Galayda, Tom Richar and John Meyer, only three of the incumbents filed for re-election.

All but Lobron filed for re-election out of Washington Township. Galayda and Meyer are up for three-year terms, while Richar is running for a one-year term.

The new structure would give and one representative each, four from Washington Township, two from C, and one from Chester Borough to complete the board of nine.

But no one from Chester Borough filed to run for the open, three-year seat, according to the clerk’s office.

There are three seats available on the and incumbent Christine Hofstetter is joined by newcomer Carolyn Kleppe-Collins. Leaving Chester short two candidates for two boards of educaton.

Over in Mendham Borough, new prospective members S. Beth Cocuzza and Frederick K. Schoenbrodt II join incumbent Anne Marie Hornyak by filing for the three open positions on the Boro Board of Education.
