Mendham Takes Halvorsen Cup, Rips Roxbury, 4-2

Second title for the Minutemen.

Mendham's offense exploded for three goals in under five minutes in the second period on their way to a 4-2 victory over Roxbury and the Halvorsen Cup tournament title at Mennen Arena on Thursday night.

The Halvorsen Cup victory is Mendham's first since 2009 and the Minutemen now set their sites on Public B tournament next week.

Matt Farina ended the first period of play with a goal for Mendham, staking them to a 1-0 lead and igniting the offense at the start of the second period.

Paul Michura deposited a feed from Grant Jozefek to the back of the net to push Mendham's advantage to 2-0. Jozefek padded the lead with a goal of his own as the Minutemen climbed to a 3-0 edge. Jozefek found Michura again and he scored to widen the divide to 4-0.

That score increased Jozefek's tally to 100 for the season.
