Last Thursday, third and fourth graders at Mendham Township Elementary School added a new skill to their set, that of master baker.
Thanks to a presentation from King Arthur Flour’s “Life Skills” program, all of the students assembled learned exactly what making bread by hand takes. A similar program was held in Chester last year and is offered by King Arthur's Flour around the country.
"This event is led by a the Cultural Arts Committee at Mendham Towsnhip Elementary and associated with our home and school Association," said Mendham Township Superintendent Sal Constantino. "The children will be given a lesson on baking bread and then they will actually prepare their own loaf of bread."
According to Constantio, the students will be baking one loaf for their families and one that they would return to school for donation to the the Market Street Mission in Morristown, the Community Soup Kitchen of Morristown or the Soup Kitchen Church of the Redeemer in Morristown.
