First Day of School: Dickerson Elementary

Students arriving at Dickerson School in Chester for the first day of school experienced a series of firsts on Thursday.

There was the thrill for many of a new school and the new for all of new teachers and new friends. This year, however, there was the which was explained to the students during their lunch period by principal Melissa Fair.

"I've been spending a lot of my time on this," Fair said, holding an explanatory note on the allergy policy. "This is one of those days where I am out of the office and out and about."

But none of those administrative tasks put a damper on Fair's enthusiasm for the start of the school year.

"This is a great day," Fair said.
