Fantasy Fort: Second-Graders Win Grand Prize in Design Contest

Students at St. Joseph School in Mendham created the best design fort in a large competition.

If you’re looking for a dream fort, St. Joseph School in Mendham is your place to go.

As part of a contest run by the Sylvan Dell Publishing Company, the school’s second grade class took part in the Dream Fort Design contest and brought home first prize.

The class was required to design a dream fort by using the six simple machines, according to the school. The class needed to submit a visual design, with inside and outside views of the fort with scale to measurement. The team also had to answer questions regarding the specific design, describe the tools, materials and safety methods used to build the fort.
