Mendham Mayor Takes Administrator's Post

Neil Henry is settling in to his new role in Long Hill Township.

Apparently Mendham Borough Mayor Neil Henry can’t get enough of council meetings.

The second term Mayor accepted an appointment last week to be the full time administrator in Long Hill Township, which will fill out an already packed evening dance card for Henry.

According to a report by the Echoes-Sentinel, Henry was by the appointed Township Committee and reported to work on Sept. 27. His starting annual salary is $115,000. Henry takes over a position that had been vacant since March 31 when then administrator Richard J Sheola departed.

Henry currently is paid a $3,500 stipend from Mendham Borough and takes no benefits from the municipality.

Henry delayed a request for a full interview, saying he wanted time to settle into his new position, which was only in its fourth full day.

Henry is a staple in Mendham, having lived there for the majority of his life. One of seven brothers Henry and his wife Leslie settled into the borough where they raised daughter Alex and sons Bill and Tom.

Over in Mendham Borough, administrator Ellen Sandman had advice for Henry as he embarked on his new journey.

“He should cozy up to the mayor,” Sandman said. “That’s my advice.”

Long Hill Township mayor Mike Mazzucco be warned.

Look for our complete interview with Henry coming soon.
