Larison’s Zoning Status Comes to Planning Board Thursday

Public hearing will be held to discuss ways to make vacant property viable to borough.

A public hearing will be held by the Chester Borough Planning Board on Thursday to discuss rezoning options for the parcel of land known as Larison’s Turkey Farm.

The property, located at the intersection of North Main Street and Rt. 206 in Chester, has been vacant for years. The town has undergone multiple and various ways to find a suitor to occupy the property that would bring a viable business to town.

A rezoning approach would allow the borough to change the type of business or tenant on the property to help it become productive.

One current issue with the property is its wastewater plan, or lack thereof. The subcommittee created by the borough’s council has had unsuccessful discussions with pharmacies, banks and banquet facilities that could be interested in the site.

The Thursday meeting is open to the public at 50 North Road and is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. Residents are encouraged to attend.
