A portion of County Road 510 from Mendham Township through Morris Township has been closed to traffic due to a water main break, according to local police.
The road will be closed through the morning hours, and there is no exact time of reopening, Morris Township Police said.
Lt. Vito Abrusci of the Mendham Township Police Department said about 500 homes in the Brookside section of Mendham Township are without water supply because of the break.
The water line is an 18-inch main, Abrusci said.
The area is serviced by South Morris Municipal Utilities Association.
The detour around the roadway takes motorists heading east on Tingley Road in Mendham Township to Washington Valley Road, and back to County Road 510. Heading west, motorists will reverse course, taking Washington Valley Road to Tingley Road and back to County Road 510.
