Travel Conditions Expected To Worsen Overnight

Mendham and Chester officials urge caution as the height of the winter storm approaches.

As the blizzard conditions associated with the massive winter storm approach our area, officials in Mendham and Chester urge caution over the next several hours.

While the police departments in Mendham and Chester haven't reported road issues so far, Chester Borough Mayor Bob Davis posted on our Facebook page that the roads were starting to get very slick and the Chester First Aid Squad urged everyone to stay home if they can in order to stay safe during the inclement weather.

Mendham Township Police Sgt. Ross Johnson echoed those sentiments.

"Road conditions have begun to deteriorate this afternoon and are expected to continue to do so overnight with the weather slowly intensifying," Johnson said. "We would ask everyone to please stay off the roads till the storm is over. If people must travel, we ask they take their time utilizing an appropriate vehicle for the conditions, such as 4WD or AWD."
