Pedestrian Struck on Main Street in Chester Borough

Portion of roadway closed for two hours Saturday during investigation.

A 53-year-old Parsippany woman was injured after being a struck by a vehicle Saturday afternoon on Main Street, Chester Borough Police said.

The woman, whose identity was not immediately released, was transported by the Chester First Aid Squad to Morristown Medical Center for undisclosed injuries.

According to Chester Borough Police Sgt. Dave Jara, an 18-year-old female from Mendham was driving eastbound on Main Street when she struck the woman who was already in the crosswalk.

A preliminary investigation determined the driver was not impaired or using her cell phone at the time of the crash, Jara said.

Motor vehicle charges are pending the completion of the investigation, Jara said.

The crash, which occurred at about 1:30 p.m., closed Main Street between Hillside Road and Collis Lane for about two hours Saturday afternoon.

In addition to Chester Borough Police, the Chester Township Police and the Morris County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Section assisted at the scene.
