More Changes on the Way For Chester Police

Another impending retirement means another new face is going to join the ranks of the Chester Township Police force.

Chester Township has seen a slew of changes over the past several months. The paved the way for the , and the other elevations of and most recently .

Capping those changes this month was the who had his first day on the job Aug. 1.

And now there will be at least one more change.

"Sgt. Jon Loprete is going to retire," Chester Township Police Chief Wayne Martini said. "So I am going to have to replace him on the roster."

Whether that means another promotion and the addition of a new patrolman remains to be seen, but it should put an end to what Martini himself had described as a busy time with personnel changes.

The disposition of both departments was uo in the air as and looked to explore a shared services agreement for their police departments.

In the end, and the departments went back to focusing on their own staffing needs sans merger or contracting.

For Chester Borough, that meant a swearing ceremony for a new officer and sergeant. For Township, it meant the hiring of Przybylski and the search for a replacement for Loprete.

"We have a great council who supports us and a community that respects the service we provide them," Martini said. "We are going to make sure we give them the best service and hire the best possible candidates."
