Mendham Teen Ticketed After Striking Pedestrian

Parsippany woman sent to the hospital following Saturday accident in Chester Borough.

An 18-year-old Mendham woman was issued a pair of summons after her car struck a 53-year-old Parsippany resident, Chester Borough Police said.

According to to Chester Borough Police Sgt. Dave Jara, Kathryn Donato was driving eastbound on Main Street when she struck Lois Hodge-Villa who was already in the crosswalk.

Donato was cited for careless driving and failure to yield to a pedestrian within a crosswalk, Jara said.

According to Jara, Hodge-Villa was transported by the Chester First Aid Squad to Morristown Medical Center for undisclosed injuries.

“The victim was treated for minor injuries,” Jara said.

The collision, which occurred at about 1:30 p.m., closed Main Street between Hillside Road and Collis Lane for about two hours Saturday afternoon.

In addition to Chester Borough Police, the Chester Township Police and the Morris County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Section assisted at the scene.

According to Jara, the accident investigation determined the driver was not impaired or using her cell phone at the time of the crash.
