Mendham OEM Sets Up Social Media Accounts

Mendham's Office of Emergency Management activates Facebook and Twitter accounts.

As part of their plan to increase communication in our post-Sandy era, the Mendham's Office of Emergency Management has created a pair of social media accounts dedicated to getting information into the hands of its residents as fast as possible.

"We have set up a facebook page and atwitter page for updates from The Mendham Office of Emergency Management," said Mendham Township's Deputy Coordinator Nick Wiczak. "Like us on facebook at 'Mendham Office of Emergency Management' and follow us on twitter @MendhamOEM."

This comes at the same time as a renewed education effort, as Mendham is launching a citizen volunteer CERT team with trainings being held this week.

"It is on the same note as starting the CERT team," Witczak said. "We are also helping to keep residents informed of important emergency management and preparedness information via social media."

Witczak also said residents are encouraged to sign up for the Everbridge
Emergency Notification
, which the Office of Emergency Management
utilizes.

"This notification system enables your town to provide you with critical information quickly in a variety of situations, such as severe weather, unexpected road closures, missing persons, and evacuation of buildings or neighborhoods," Witczak said. "You will receive time-sensitive messages wherever you specify, such as your home, cell, or business phone, email, text messages, hearing impaired receiving devices, and more. You pick where, you pick how."
