Four Arrested During Overnight Checkpoint in Chester, Cops Say

Police checked motorists for six hours between June 21 and June 22.

A DUI checkpoint on one of western Morris County’s busiest roadways resulted in four arrests for alcohol and drug-related offenses, according to Chester Borough Police.

Chief Dave Jara said the overnight checkpoint from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. between June 21 and June 22 resulted in two driving while intoxicated arrests; one driving under the influence arrest; and another possession of marijuana under 50 grams arrest.

The person accused of driving under the influence was also charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, Jara said.

The checkpoint was established at the intersection of Rt. 206 and Maple Avenue, and stopped motorists on both the north and south lanes of travel. The initiative was part of the national Over the Limit, Under Arrest campaign.
