DUI Checkpoint Coming to Rt. 206 in Chester

Police will hold overnight campaign as part of national initiative.

Chester Borough police announced Monday it will be taking part in the national Over the Limit, Under Arrest campaign by conducting a driving under the influence checkpoint this month.

From 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. on June 21 to June 22, police will man a checkpoint on Rt. 206 in the borough near the intersection of Maple Avenue. The checkpoint will be in both the north and southbound lanes during those hours.

“It is the goal of this agency to remove impaired drivers from the busy roadways of both the Borough and the County of Morris in an effort to prevent fatal traffic crashes before they occur,” the department said in a statement.
