Cops: Speeding Driver Flips Vehicle

The following information was provided by the Chester Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

An 18-year old Mendham man was issued a traffic summons after a motor vehicle accident on April 14, said.

According to police, Patrolman Steve Notte responded to a motor vehicle crash on Route 24, west of Fox Chase Road, where he found a 2003 Pontiac sedan overturned off the roadway.  The driver, William Franco was uninjured and was able to free himself from the vehicle, police said. 

According to police, Franco told Notte that he was going too fast and he lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle had crossed over the oncoming lane, ran off the left side of the road, overturned, struck two trees and came to rest on its passenger side, police said.  According to police, Franco was issued a summons for failure to keep right and has a pending appearance in Chester Township Municipal Court.
