The following information was provided by the Chester Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 55-year-old Chester man panicked and left his car in a ditch after an accident on Cooper Lane, Chester Township Police said.

According to police, Patrolman Steve Notte and Sergeant Thomas Williver were dispatched to a report of a vehicle off the road on Cooper Lane March 26. The officers found the vehicle abandoned, facing east in a ditch on the westbound side of the road, police said.

According to authorities, the vehicle was registered to Johannes Zarzycki, and when contacted by phone, Zarzycki told police of his location at a nearby residence on Cooper Lane.

Officers questioned the uninjured Zarzycki and were told that he was “freaked out” after the crash so he went to his friend’s house, police said.

According to police, Notte cited Zarzycki with failure to keep right, leaving the scene of a crash, and failing to report a crash. Zarzycki has a pending court appearance in Chester Township Municipal Court, police said.
