Cops: Daytime Burglaries In Chester

Unlocked homes and high end vehicles are among those being hit in the daylight raids.

According to Chief of Police Andre Kedrowitsch, a number of burglaries to homes, both in the Chester Borough as well as Chester Township have been reported recently.

These burglary incidents have occurred during the day and there is a report that at least one location the doors to the residence were not locked. In addition to the home invasions there has been an increase in motor vehicle thefts in the area,. Most of the makes and models were considered high end As with the burglaries, several of the vehicles were not locked and/or the keys were left inside the car.
The Chief is urging all residence to do the following:

  • Lock your doors when you leave your home. Make sure your home is secure. Do not forget the door between your garage and your home. If they get into the garage, they are in your home.
  • Secure your vehicles. Either park them inside your locked garage, or make sure that they are locked in your driveway. Remove all valuables, ie: cell phones, laptops, GPS, pocketbooks/purses, iPods, and even loose change. Remove anything that would catch the eye of a would-be thief.
  • Be diligent, watch your neighborhoods.
  • Report any suspicious activity, persons, or vehicles to your police department at 908-879-5626. Pay attention to cars on the street, passers by, etc.

And in an emergency situation, dial 9-1-1. This includes things like seeing a stranger enter a home, seeing a stranger vacate a home, seeing a stranger walking on a neighbor’s property.
