Chester Woman Charged With DWI Twice in One Week

Late-night incidents in two different towns lead to pair of arrests for 23-year-old.

A Chester woman was arrested twice in one week in two different towns for driving while intoxicated, local authorities said.

Ashley Mizzer, 23, was stopped by Mt. Olive Police just before midnight on Oct. 6 for making an illegal left turn on Rt. 206, Cpl. Eric Anthony said. While speaking with Mizzer, police detected she “was impaired due to alcohol consumption,” Anthony said.

Mizzer was instructed to perform field sobriety tests, which she failed, leading to her arrest, Anthony said. She was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, making an illegal left turn and failure to wear a seatbelt.

Just five days later, Mizzer was seen driving 41 miles per hour in a 25-mile-per-hour zone in Hackettstown at about 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 11, Sgt. Darren Tynan said.

Hackettstown police then observed Mizzer stop in the middle of the intersection of Rt. 46 and Stiger Street at a green light, Tynan said.

Mizzer was pulled over and the officer detected the odor of an alcohol coming from inside the vehicle, Tynan said. Mizzer was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which she failed, Tynan said.

She was charged by Hackettstown police with driving while intoxicated, speeding, and failure to observe a signal.
