Chester Woman Charged in Drunken Hit and Run, Police Say

73-year-old left the scene of an accident, Chester Borough cops said.

A 73-year-old Chester Township resident was arrested after a hit-and-run traffic accident in the Chester Springs Mall on May 18, Chester Borough police said.

Janet Manfredonia struck a parked vehicle with her 2002 Volvo and, according to witnesses, she attempted to flee the scene without notifying police of the accident, Sgt. Dave Jara said.

Ptl. Ryan Durkin located Manfredonia and after smelling alcohol on her breath, administered a series of field sobriety tests, Jara said.

Manfredonia was arrested and transported to police headquarters where breath samples showed her blood alcohol concentration was .16 percent, Jara said. 

Manfredonia was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, failure to report an accident, careless driving and driving while intoxicated, Jara said.

Manfredonia was released to her husband pending an appearance in Chester Borough Municipal Court, Jara said.
