Cops: Driver Was High, Destroyed Evidence

The following information was provided by the Chester Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

According to police, a Chester man was under the influence of drugs and tried to destroy evidence after being pulled over driving with his lights off after dark.

Police say after Rami Shatz, 67, was stopped on Flanders Road for a motor vehicle violation on Feb. 22, and Patrolman Christopher Cavanagh smelled the odor of marajuana in the car.

According to police, Cavanagh arrested Shatz on charges including driving under the influence of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, use of marijuana and hindering apprehension. Police said he concealed and attempting to dispose of the evidence he possessed, but did not provide more specifics on what evidence he allegedly attempted to destroy, or how.
