Authorities have identified the Chester man found dead in a Fairfield hotel room on Sunday and are continuing an investigation into his death.
Matthew Wuss, 20, was found in the Hampton Inn on Route 46 at 5 p.m. Sunday after hotel staff entered his room, according to Essex County Acting Prosecutor Carolyn Murray.
Hotel employees went into the room after Wuss had failed to
check out and found the man unresponsive, Murray said.
The Chester resident was pronounced dead at the scene and the cause of death is still under investigation, Murray said. Toxicology results are still pending, but authorities believe the death is a result of drug-induced overdose.
Essex County VIPER Unit is conducting the investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact Det. David Fontura at 973-621-4233.
