Burglars Strike Chester Home, Cars

Police are investigating car break-ins and a home invasion that occurred over the month of June.

The Chester Township Police are searching for suspects in a slew of car burglaries and a home invasion that took place over the span of the last month, Lt. Thomas Williver said.

Three vehicles parked on Oakdale Road in Chester Township were burglarized between 7 p.m. June 5 and 7 a.m. on June 6, Williver said.

During that same time, on the Chester Borough side of Oakdale Road a car very close to the township border was broken into, Williver said.

Two cars were hit on Cristina Court as was one on Melrose Drive between 9 p.m. June 9 and 6:30 a.m. June 10. Six cars were burglarized on Furnace Road between 10 p.m. June 25 and 8:30 a.m. June 26, Williver said.

Williver said on June 28 two men reportedly entered a Parker Road home through an open garage door and fled when the homeowner went to check on the noise. The only description given to the responding patrols was “male” and they were last seen running down Parker Road towards Washington Township, Williver said.

According to Williver the items taken in the burglaries were generally cash, electronics, and tools.

All vehicles were unlocked, with the exception of a Jeep Wrangler that was accessed by cutting open the soft top, Williver said.

“Residents are reminded to keep all windows and doors secured on their homes and vehicles. Valuables should never be left in vehicles in plain sight,” Williver said.

“Residents are encouraged to contact the police immediately using 9-1-1 if they see anyone or anything that appears suspicious.”
