1 Injured in Chester Crash That Cracks Utility Pole, Cops Say

Detour sending drivers through Chester Shopping Mall Thursday morning.

A woman was taken to Morristown Medical Center Thursday morning after a two-car crash on eastbound side of West Main Street in Chester, police said.

The driver, whose name is being withheld at this time, was making a left out of the Chester Mall onto West Main Street around 9:45 a.m. when she was struck by another driver heading eastbound, Det. Shaun Horst said.

The cars were pushed into a utility pole, causing it to crack approximately 10 to 15-feet up, Horst said. Century Link was on the scene as of 11:20 a.m. to replace the pole.

Detours went motorists heading eastbound through the shopping mall parking lot and out onto Rt. 206. The injured driver was taken by ambulance to Morristown Medical Center as a precaution since airbags were deployed, Horst said.

She also received a summons for careless driving.
