Longtime Mendham Resident Dies at Home

Brad Gano was a graduate of both Yale and Harvard and served on the Board of Trustees at Boys Latin School, as well as the Willow School in Peapack, NJ.

William Brad Gano passed away peacefully on Nov. 17 at home in Mendham with his family at his side. He was 56 years old.

Gano was born in Bethlehem, PA, and was raised in Baltimore, MD. He and his wife Peggy moved to Mendham 21 years ago. Gano and the family also lived in Hilton Head Island, SC.

Gano attended the Boys Latin School in Baltimore, where he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame and recently received the award for Distinguished Alumnus. Gano graduated from Yale University in 1978 and was Captain of the Yale Lacrosse Team. He received his MBA from the Harvard Business School in 1986. He also served on the Board of Trustees at Boys Latin School, as well as the Willow School in Peapack, NJ.

Gano began his career with Bethlehem Steel in 1978 as a Sales Trainee until he started his MBA. After Business School, he worked in High Yield Bond Sales for several New York firms including Morgan Stanley, Salomon Brothers and Nomura Securities. He also managed a hedge fund, Hilltop Capital Management, which he ran from 2000 until 2008. Gano then worked as a Senior Financial Consultant at Summit Financial Resources in Parsippany, NJ. Most recently Gano served as Director of Sales for Credit Agricole CIB in New York.

Gano was a member of Roxiticus Golf Club and the Pastime Club, both of Mendham, the Wintergreen Club in Windham, NY and Wexford Country Club in Hilton Head, SC. He was a past member of the Trump National Golf Course in Bedminster and the Harvard Club in New York.

Gano was an avid golfer who loved hunting, fishing, skiing, and lacrosse. His family will remember him as a loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle who instilled values, taught humility, and spent the last several months sharing his life's stories and memories with his family and friends with the hope that the good memories be all that remain as the sorrow and grief give way to love and peace.

He is survived by his wife Peggy Wilcock Gano; two daughters Paige and Meredith; one son Billy; his parents William and Jacquelynne Gano of Bethlehem, PA and Hilton Head, SC; one brother, Rhett Gano of Summit, NJ and one sister Jocelyn Stanton of Long Beach, CA. He is also survived by his in-laws, Thomas and Violet Wilcock as well as many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family has chosen two schools for donations: The Boys Latin School Development Office 822 West Lake Avenue, Baltimore MD 21210 and The Willow School 1150 Pottersville Road Gladstone, NJ 07934.
