Former School Board President, Marine Captain Dies at 80

Reding Fenn Putnam spent 40 years on Wall Street.

Reding Fenn Putman believed in service to community and made a terrific career out of the financial industry.

The Mendham resident died at 80.

Putman spent 40 years on Wall Street in the municipal bond industry, working for W.H. Morton, American Express, Solomon Brothers, Dean Witter, Lehman Brothers and O’Brien Partners. During that time he held positions as chairman of the Public Securities Association, Vice Chairman of the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board and President of the Municipal Bond Club of New York.

Putman was also a Captain in the Marine Corps and the president of the Mendham Township Board of Education. He also serves as a Vestry and Pastoral Care member as well as leader of the Outreach Program for the Church of St. John on the Mountain.

Putman is survived by his two sons, a daughter, and seven grandchildren.
