Chester Business Owner, Former Planning Board Member Dies at 76

Daniel Cerro lived in Chester for 50 years.

For a half century Daniel Cerro, Sr. was a staple in Chester.

The former small business owner and planning board member died at 76 on Friday, Nov. 15, in Morristown.

Cerro was born July 12, 1937 in Millburn, New Jersey, and lived in Chester for 50 years, according to his obituary at williamjleberfh.com.

Cerro moved to Seaside Park just three years ago.

Cerro owned Cerro Tool & Machine in Chester and was an expert Tool and Die maker, along with being a machinist. He served on the Chester planning board for more than two decades, and was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Cerro is survived by his son Daniel and daughter Margaret, along with two granddaughters, a brother and uncle.

The family has asked that any memorial can be made in the form of donations to the Chester First Aid Squad or Chester Volunteer Fire Company.
