Champion Golfer, Mendham Twp. First Aid Squad Member Dies at 73

'Rie' Noble lived in Brookside for more than 50 years.

Friends called her “Rie” for short, and Helen Marie Noble had many dear friends in the area after spending some 50 years in Brookside.

The avid golfer died recently at her home at the age of 73.

Noble was born in Phoenixville, Pa. and moved to Brookside in 1963 after graduating Rosemont College in 1962, according to her obituary.

Noble made her name as a golfer, winning numerous local and state championships. She took home the New Jersey State Women’s Amateur trophy in 1971, and was honored as Sportswoman of the Year in 1961 in Philadelphia.

While living in Mendham, she was a member of the Morris County Golf Club where she was a six-time club champion. She was also active in the Mendham Township First Aid Squad.

She and her husband, James, owned Zee Medical Service in New Vernon prior to retirement, the obituary said. She is survived by a son and two daughters and seven grandchildren.
