Science Fair Returning to Black River Middle School

33rd Annual Fair boasts 356 new projects on display.

481 students, 356 projects all on display for one day only.

The 33rd Annual Chester Science Fair, held at Black River Middle School from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 2, allows Chester students from grades K-8 to present their projects to a panel of judges comprised of scientific and engineering professionals and educators from the community. 

This year the projects are in the fields of Chemical Sciences, Earth Sciences, Life Sciences and Technical Sciences. Individuals and teams will have 10 to 20 minutes, depending on age, to present their projects and each project can also enter and compete for special awards that are defined and assessed by independent judges provided by the award sponsor.

  • Chester Garden Club
  • Environmental
  • Montclair State University Food Science
  • Psychology
  • Science Makes Cents
  • Veterinary Scholar
  • hemistry and Physics
  • Nursing Science

  • Morris County Mosquito Extermination Commission
  • MCAW (Morris County Arts Workshop) Robotics Competition and Food Art
  • Nitrogen Magic Show with Dr. Hwang
  • Rizzo’s Reptiles – Live Animal Presentation
  • Schiff Nature Preserve

The fair relies critically on its corporate sponsors, with donations ranging from $250 to $5000 and above. Support is recognized through display of corporate logos on the Fair website and through banners displayed at the Fair in various project and exhibit rooms.

The Fair is free and open to the public and lunch will be available for purchase from New York Pizza and Restaurant.
