UPCOMING EVENTS AT THE CHURCH OF MESSIAH

A Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper will be held on Tuesday, 2/12/13 from 6 to 8 pm.  Pancake day is the day before Ash Wednesday--the day to party before Lent begins.  Pancakes will be served as well as chili and other dishes for those wanting something different.  There will also be a costume parade, pancake tossing race, and a good time for all.  Admission is $5 for adults, and children are free.

Ash Wednesday is 2/13/13.  Services will be held at 7 a.m., 12 noon and 7:30 p.m.  Children's ashes will be distributed at 5:00 p.m.

Stations of the Cross will be held on Wednesdays 2/20, 2/27/3/6,3/13,3/20 at 7:00 p.m.

Following Stations of the Cross, at 7:30 p.m. on the above dates, Holy Week and Easter come alive on challenging video commentaries by academic luminaries, coupled with masterpiece illustrations by John August Swanson.  The DVD features six individual chapter commentaries by scholars plus a Swanson work of art focusing on a familiar Scripture passage.  The accompanying discussion guide references the Swanson artwork along with thought providing questions to spark fresh insights into the Bible Story.
