Chester Boy Scout Troop 139 Celebrates its 50th Anniversary

Chester,
NJ
- This year marks
the 50th anniversary of the chartering and continuing operation of Chester’s Boy
Scout Troop 139.  Troop 139 has served young men and the community since
1963 by providing an enriching program for hundreds of boys. Troop 139 is
chartered by and meets at the Community Presbyterian Church of Chester, NJ.

Boy Scouts is not just camping.  It is an organization designed to assist
young men to build strong character, learn leadership skills, and explore many
activities they might not normally be involved with. Troop 139 has also helped
guide 64 Scouts to its highest rank, the rank of Eagle Scout. Scouts do of course
have a very strong focus on outdoor activities and Troop 139 is active in
camping, High Adventure trips, Jamborees, hiking, mountain biking, and water
sports. The Troop is also actively involved in community service by holding an
annual town-wide food drive, helping in community clean-up days, assisting
senior citizens, and being on hand for events held by its chartering church and
other community groups.

To celebrate its 50th anniversary milestone, Troop 139 is having a celebration
on September 21st at the Community Presbyterian Church.  All current and
past Troop 139 Scouts, Leaders, Scoutmasters, and Eagle Scouts are welcome to
attend. In addition, expected to be in attendance will be the Chester Township
and Borough Mayors, representatives from Boy Scouts of America's Patriots' Path
Council, and representatives from the Community Presbyterian Church, our
chartering organization. The celebration will include a family picnic, games,
and a ceremony.  Anyone interested in purchasing tickets and attending may
contact the Troop at webmaster@bsa-troop139.org by September
16th.
