Lakritz, Cavanaugh Win Regional High School Board Seats

Chester Township, Mendham Borough residents bring in two new faces to regional school board.

The West Morris Regional High School District board of education is going to look very different come January.

Chester Township and Mendham Borough have elected Gary Lakritz and Brian Cavanaugh, respectively, to represent their towns on the West Morris Regional High School District Board of Education.

Lakritz, a nine-year member of the Chester School District board of education, beat out Bruce Sullivan and Russ Cembrinski. All three were vying for a vacant three-year seat after current board president James Johnston chose not to run for re-election.

This was Cavanaugh’s first attempt at elected office and ran on the platform of “restoring Mendham High School.” Schram has served on the board for eight years.

Washington Township also had two open seats on the board, but neither incumbent was opposed. Lisa Woodring was elected to a three-year seat, and Tom Richar was elected to a one-year term.
