UPDATE: Power Returning to Chester

North Road is open, the traffic light on 206 has power and trucks have been seen working in over a half dozen neighborhoods.

Power is returning to Chester. 

This afternoon, the stop light on route 206 at Larison's lit up for the first time in a week and according to Chester Township Police Lieutenant Tom Williver, power was restored to sections of Spring Lake Drive, Old Chester Road near Chilton Road and Heath Drive.

Williver also said that restoration trucks were seen on Baker Road, Burnett Drive, Chester Place, Old Mill Road, Huemer Lane, Dogwood Drive and Horton Drive.

"This does not necessarily mean that power will be restored to that particlular road," Williver said. "As there may be further damgeup the line that still needs to be addressed."

"The Chester Township Police Department does not have any other information as to when power will be restored to particular streets," Williver said.

Chester Township also shared five things residents need to know as the Sandy recovery continues.

1.  Free Wi-Fi Access will be available at the Municipal Building starting tomorrow during business hours (9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).  Residents are also welcome to come in and warm up while they recharge their electronic devices.

2.  Blue Diamond Disposal is scheduled to pick up trash tomorrow.

3. Any resident that needs to report damage to their property for insurance purposes please call the police department at 908-879-5514.

4. North Road by the Black River Middle School is now open.

5. Chester Township Schools will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday, pending a restoration of power.
